Many people in Southern California love the freedom of riding a motorcycle and the pleasant and temperate weather makes that a viable option for them all year long. Unfortunately there can be a great risk in riding a motorcycle among other vehicles due to the inherent lack of protection around a rider. When other drivers make negligent and dangerous choices, the risk can only increase.
Such was the case unfortunately for one person on a motorcycle recently according to an ABC7 report. The biker was riding along in the carpool lane on a stretch of Interstate 5 in Orange County when a tragic and deadly wreck occurred. The incident was caused by a driver in a Jaguar vehicle that was actually driving the opposite way in the same lane. The force of the impact actually ripped the biker’s body apart into two pieces.
The crash caused a serious fire to erupt and the driver of the Jaguar and the motorcyclist both were killed in the wreck. No details have been provided by authorities about the potential involvement of drugs or alcohol on the part of the vehicle driver or other reasons that may have led that person to be on the wrong side of the freeway. The accident took place in the wee hours of the morning when traffic would have been relatively light.
People who experience the loss of loved ones in crashes caused by others’ negligence might want to talk with an attorney in California to learn about their options for compensation.
